We were honoured to welcome Jarmila Yu, CMktr DipM FCIM FIDM MCIPR Yu, Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) for Surrey and Berkshire, as a keynote speaker at this year’s ‘Shaping the Future’ curriculum conference.
Jarmila brought a powerful perspective from the world of business and leadership, and her reflections on the day truly captured the spirit of the event:
“A key takeaway for me today in hearing the different presentations from the school leaders is just about how innovative school leaders and their teams are being with reshaping their curriculum.”
She reminded us how far education has come—and how fast it’s still evolving:
“We often think that school is education, education is what we know from when we were in schools—10, 20, 30, 40 years ago—but oh my goodness, the world of education has changed. And it’s rapidly changing now.”
Perhaps most powerfully, Jarmila left us with a call to action:
“To industry and business leaders: be more supportive. Get involved with your local schools — and support them on this path to changing the curriculum.”
