Boarding School Placement

The prospect of sending a child to school in the UK from overseas is extremely exciting, but also somewhat daunting due to the complexities involved in selecting a school.

The choice is vast, the possibilities endless, and whether or not your son or daughter will thrive in their UK school will depend hugely on whether or not you have chosen the right one for them.

The right school will suit your child best because the key criteria, those which matter most to your family and to your child, will be met.

Being located in the UK we are ideally placed to help select appropriate schools for your child and have been advising families in Nigeria about UK boarding schools since 2008.

Mark visits Nigeria many times a year to meet with parents and to develop his personal networks among local heads and principals, who value his expert consultancy service available to their families.

Should you choose to work with us we will embark upon a systematic process involving the following steps:

Proposal issued

Following an initial enquiry and the provision of basic information about your child, including his/her latest school report, we will prepare a detailed proposal outlining the stages involved in the school selection process.

Getting to know the family

To select a school which will be right for the family, it is important that we fully understand the decision process which has led to you seeking a UK boarding school and the factors which will be important to you when comparing one school with another.

Understanding your child

Early on we will ask for copies of your child’s most recent school reports, any significant certificates/awards, and his/her passport data page. In addition to this statistical data, we will put together a detailed profile describing the achievements, interests, character and aspirations of your child to provide to the schools’ admissions departments.

Researching schools

Having carefully considered your key selection criteria established through our discussions with you, along with our knowledge of your son or daughter, we will draw up a list of possible schools which would be suitable and will check their availability of places for the proposed entry year via our contacts.

Introducing your child to the short-listed schools

When you have reviewed the options and selected your own short-list from those suggested, we encourage school visits (before or after registration) for which we will liaise with yourselves and the schools’ admissions teams. To apply for a place it is necessary to register and arrange assessments, and we suggest registering at about three to five schools.

Preparation for entrance exams and interviews

To give your son or daughter the best chance of performing to their full potential in school entrance exams we can introduce you to tutors who are experienced and knowledgeable about the UK boarding schools’ entrance exam procedures.

Accepting an offer

At all stages of the decision making we will be ready to help and advise by drawing on Mark’s extensive knowledge of UK boarding schools and the unique characteristics of each one, and of course this last decision – choosing which offer to accept – may be the most significant of all. We shall be on hand to guide you through the acceptance stage and to introduce you to visa specialists if required.
